I’ve been away for a little while. The Boy and I moved into a new place, which meant uprooting ourselves and our little pupper.
This meant that our already anxious little Daisy turned into a giant nervous wreck. Norman, the most regal dog I have ever met, is remaining at my parent’s place. He’s old and forgetful, so it wasn’t fair to take him with us.

And this meant that Miss Daisy had to spend long periods of time by herself.
Just. Look. At. This. Face.
She’s had a tough few weeks (as have we!) but she’s finally starting to settle. I have accepted that The Boy and I have a highly strung little sausage – she’s medicated and probably will be for a long time to come. But we’re working on training her lots and building up her confidence, because she deserves to be happy!
I’ve been spending as much time as humanly possible at home with her to help alleviate her stress, which is how these delightful little cookies were born! With so much time milling about our new apartment with Daisy, I sought out easy, comforting, mood-lifting foods.
And these cookies tick all of those boxes. They’re not too sweet (which means you can eat more than one!) and they’re packed with cardamom and orange, which are zesty and uplifting (perfect for stressful times). And chocolate just improves everything.

Side note: I got sent a box of chocolate by the lovely people from Nestle Bakers’ Corner.
A BOX OF CHOCOLATE.
That delivery was a little ray of sunshine amidst all the stresses associated with our move. Expect to see more recipes featuring their chocolate.
Anyone else got anxious pets? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
